What this browser remembers
The site uses local storage for lesson progress, course preferences, editor drafts, playground layouts, and the simulated checkpoint machines. That information is not uploaded by the course.
On the course map, open the gear and choose Forget this browser to erase all of it. Your browser's site-data controls can do the same thing.
Visits
Vercel Web Analytics records page visits and ordinary request information so I can see whether the course is being used and where it breaks down. The course does not send the Nix you type, your exercise answers, preferences, or checkpoint files to analytics.
Course certificates
If you make a certificate, your chosen name and castle layout are encoded into its URL. They are not attached to an account or saved in a course database. Opening or sharing the certificate necessarily gives that URL to the website host and whoever receives it.
Comments and outside links
Comments are provided by giscus and stored in a public GitHub Discussion. The course map loads giscus immediately; a lesson waits until you finish or skip it. Signing in or commenting is governed by GitHub and giscus.
YouTube, Discord, GitHub, and Ko-fi links take you to those services, where their own privacy rules apply.
